Carpenters use skills to build new choza
The carpenters at the museum are planning to move from their current work area into an existing "choza" (covered working area) just to the north it. The rebuilt choza, which will be repaired in the manner of 18th century buildings here in St. Augustine, includes a new floor and a new thatched roof in preparation for the move.
During your visit you’ll be able to see 18th century thatching in progress and talk with the carpenters as they perform an essential and common task that was practiced in St. Augustine for over 300 years. |
